Use of Bicycles, Skateboards, and Roller
& Inline Skates on Campus
This policy is established to provide for the safety of all
members of the campus community and decrease the University
liability. It is issued pursuant to California Vehicle Code
Section 21113 which provides for the establishment and enforcement
of all vehicle traffic (including bicycle), pedestrian traffic
and parking regulations upon the grounds of the California
State Universities.
Skateboards, Roller & Inline Skates:
The use of skateboards, roller skates, inline skates, and
scooters is prohibited upon the grounds or in the buildings
of California State University, Fullerton; except for authorized
instructional purposes.
Responsible use of this equipment will be allowed on weekends
and holidays. These privileges can be individually suspended
by University Police whenever other campus visitors and University
property are put at risk.
Bicycles
- Riding of bicycles (also to include mopeds) is prohibited
on all pedestrian walkways of California State University,
Fullerton. Bicycles are to be walked on all University sidewalks,
walkways and within the quad areas.
- Bicycles may be operated on streets and bike routes but
may not be operated at a speed which exceeds the University
speed limit for vehicles (15 miles per hour). Designated
bike routes will be clearly marked.
- Bicycles must obey all traffic laws pertaining to motorized
vehicles.
- Bicycles must park in bike racks specifically designed
for this purpose. Bicycles locked to trees, etc. may be
impounded under the vehicle code.
- Bicycles are not permitted within University buildings.
Enforcement
Enforcement of this policy will be Monday through Friday.
Weekend enforcement will be at the discretion of University
Police for the protection of campus visitors and University
property.
