Ergonomics

Ergonomics is a set of principles used in the design of equipment or jobs in order to reduce employee fatigue and discomfort. Relating the capacity of the employees to their job demands is meant to lower the risk of injury and illness. Much of this can be accomplished by engineering controls such as powered tools and workstation design, or administrative controls such as job task rotation and breaks.

Cal State Fullerton has developed an Ergonomics Program and provides training classes called Sitting Safe and Back Safe. Sitting Safe classes are followed by a workstation evaluation. Individualized assessments may be conducted also--call Co Wilkins x4347.
